How do I renew my subscription?

The parent needs to sign into his/her account. Remember your email address is your username, and if you have forgotten your password, your can request a new one.
Once you have signed in, you can renew (or subsribe) from there.
Please note: The new password email might sit in your SPAM or Junk Mail folder.

How does the sign up process work?

The sign up process has 4 steps:

Step 1: Parent Details
This is where the parent enters his/her details.
The parent’s email address will be his/her username.

Step 2: Learner Details
This is where the details of the learner are entered. A parent can enter up to 3 learners.
Please note: The learner cannot have the same email address as the parent. If the learner does not have an email address, he/she can sign up at gmail, yahoo, etc. for a free email address.
The learner’s email address will be his/her username.

Step 3: Payment Details
In this step you will be re-directed to the PayFast website for payment. Payment can be done from a credit card or as a direct transfer from your bank.
Please note: Do not close the browser after payment, you will be directed back to our website for the last step.

Step 4: Confirmation
In this step you will receive confirmation that your sign up was successful. Emails with your passwords will be sent to both the parent and the learner. Please keep these emails for future reference.
Please note: Sometimes these emails will sit in your SPAM or Junk Email folder.

What must I do if I have signed up and paid, but did not receive my sign in details?

First check you SPAM of Junk Mail folder. If the registration emails are not there, please email us at info@youcandomaths.co.za

Why can't the parent and learner have the same email address?

The system is designed so that the parent is linked to the learner. The parent and the learner therefore can't have the same email address.
If the learner does not have an email address, he or she can get one for free at gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc. 

Where can I find past exam papers?

  • You can find all past government matric papers on the website of the DBE. Click here to access the old papers.
  • For more links to past papers from IEB and other schools go to this webpage.

Where is this website hosted?

It is hosted on a server in South Africa, which means that you will be using local data.

Will this website help improve my maths mark?

  • Definitely. You can work at your own pace at home, which is a non-threatening environment.
  • The lessons are carefully structured and covers exactly the work you need to know. It was written by experienced South African teachers for South African learners.
  • When you sign up, you have access to all 3 grades, which means you can go back to previous grades and fill the gaps.
  • If you use it regularly and with dedication, it will help to improve your marks.
  • Make sure you read About the Program.
  • Please note: If your marks are extremely weak, you will  need to go back to previous grades (sometimes even as far back as grade 8). We suggest you ask your teacher for advice in this regard.

What must I do if a lesson does not start?

  • Click the green play button in left bottom corner.
  • Wait about 30 seconds to give the lesson time to load.
  • If this does not work, go back to Available Lessons and start the lesson again.

What must I do if a lesson gets stuck?

  • Wait about 30 seconds to give the lesson time to load.
  • Click pause and then click play.
  • Click back a few files and then click forward.
  • Go back to Available Lessons and start the lesson again. You can then click forward to go to the part of the lesson you want.

What must I do if I do not understand a lesson?

You can try one of the following:
  • Listen to the lesson again. Remember to pause, rewind and repeat.
  • If this lesson follows another lesson, listen to the previous lesson.
  • If you are grade 11, do lessons from the same section and topic in grade 10.
  • If you are grade 12, do lessons from the same section and topic in grade 10 and/or grade 11.

What must I do if I do not understand a question in the test?

  • Read it again.
  • Look at the Notes.
  • Use the Dictionary if you do not understand a word.
  • If this does not help, type in any answer in order to proceed with the test. Make a note of this question and check the working in the answers.

When must I redo the lesson?

  • If your score is below 60% we recommend that you redo the lesson and the test.
  • If your score is above 60% and you feel that you still don’t understand, it is a good idea to redo the lesson and the test.
  • When preparing for a test or exams.
  • Remember, one learns by repetition

When must I redo the test?

  • If you feel you can achieve a higher score, redo the test without looking at the answers.
  • To do this, click Watch Lesson and then click on Test Yourself.

Can I do a test without listening to a lesson?

  • Yes, provided you think you know the work and just want to do some practice examples.
  • Select a lesson from Available Lessons and then click on Test Yourself.

What must I do if my teacher uses a different method?

  • There are many different methods in mathematics, but they will all give the same answer. If your answer is correct and you show all your working, you should get full marks!
  • Use the method which is most comfortable for you.

How can I improve my maths mark?

  • Hard work and more hard work!
  • Don’t give up.
  • Persevere.
  • If you don’t understand the first time, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do mathematics.
  • When Einstein was at school, he was told that he would never get anywhere in life.

Is there an order in which I must do the lessons?

  • Select the Section or Topic that you want to do and then work from top to bottom.

Which calculator is the best to use?

  • We recommend the Casio fx-82ES PLUS calculator

Do I need to have access to the internet?

  • Absolutely. You need a computer or a cellphone which can play Flash videos.

Is the program available on DVD?

  • No, DVDs go out of date. By having it on the internet the program will always be up to date.
